Sam has taught my son Matthew since he started playing the Saxophone around two and a half years ago. My son has thoroughly enjoyed his lessons and has just passed his grade 4 with a merit. Sam is a kind, trustworthy, patient and professional teacher who manages to combine having fun and working towards each grade effectively and successfully. I would have no hesitation in recommending him as a teacher.

I have been taking lessons with Sam for well over a year and he is by far and away the best in the business. He has brought me on far more than I could have hoped by making the complicated world of jazz clear and easy to understand. He lets me set the agenda so I learn the things I am most interested in. Sam then introduces other stuff along the way so most of the ground is covered. I heartily recommend Sam as both a teacher and a performer.

My family and I are grateful to Sam Walker, saxophonist and pianist, whose 3 piece band played at my birthday party to eighty guests ranging in ages from children to 90yr olds. His chosen accompanists and music were excellent and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

I've seen Sam play piano, sax, flute and clarinet at a number of jazz gigs - big band, swing band, small group and duo - and it's always been really impressive. He's an exceptional performer whether playing traditional or contemporary music and he's highly rated by skilled musicians and novices alike.

Sam is an extremely talented and knowledgeable musician with a quiet, modest approach to teaching. He is engaging, encouraging and entertaining during lessons, bringing about improvement without pressure. He also subtly provides opportunities to develop musical skills outside lessons in a variety of performance situations. With Sam's undeniable musical abilities added to his calm, friendly and unassuming nature he makes an amazing teacher for any age of student.

Sam is an excellent music teacher - he has helped my son to grow and mature as a saxophone player and as a musician. With Sam as his teacher, my son has achieved distinction in his Jazz Saxophone grades (7 and 8). Being a professional musician, Sam is able to instil confidence in performing in his students along with the curiosity to try different instruments and alternative genres of music. We can't recommend Sam highly enough.

Sam has taught my daughter saxophone for the last year. In this time her technique has improved significantly, especially improvisation, and he has also worked hard to prepare her to a high standard for several auditions. He is great fun and very committed. He is also a fantastic pianist. I would recommend him highly.

I discovered early on this summer that the King William Pub in Mickleham, Surrey was hosting jazz from 5 - 8pm on Sundays. The first time I went we were superbly entertained by Sam Walker playing jazz saxophone and piano together with a very accomplished guitarist Shane? Over the Summer months I became a regular on Sunday afternoons soaking up the sun sitting in the pub garden with various friends listening to Sam and his ever changing line up of musician friends. The music was fantastic and I really look forward to next year when Sam will hopefully be back!
All the best

Andy

Sam Walker played with an accompanist at my 70th birthday party November 2014. Sam's music was perfect for the occasion and everyone had a wonderful time. Sam's professionalism is apparent from the start while having a relaxed attitude. They had begun packing up when my husband said he had wanted them to play 'Happy Birthday' no problem Sam played and Anton sang. It was a memorable night.
I wanted Sam to play at our 50th wedding anniversary this year but sadly for us he has a prior commitment.
